join us on

Saturday 25 July 2026!

We are so excited you will be joining us for the celebration of our 40th anniversary. You have shared those years with us at some point. Perhaps it was in Greece in 1986, or in the Netherlands, Thailand, Mauritius, Zambia, Cairo, Shanghai, Luxembourg, Senegal, South Korea, circling back to the Netherlands. Currently we are receiving responses from all over the world. This event will be a celebration of all our friendships and connections made before and along the journey.

We recommend 'things to do' in Utrecht
The history of Utrecht is rich and varied, and goes back to the Roman Empire. Modern Utrecht has lots to offer as well. Why not make it a day in Utrecht, before joining us in the afternoon? We've listed a few sites and activities we love and a link to the tourist office.

1. The Dom Square
A unique exploration of the excavations under the Dom Square, where you will be let loose underground to discover 2000 years of history beneath the square. Visit
Domunder for information and tickets. If you have any energy left, go and climb the Dom Tower, the highest church in the Netherlands. Tickets at the tourist office on the square.

2. Walk the city
Highly recommended is a city walk with a City Guild Historian. Do this if the weather is glorious! Your guide will take you to lots of well-known and hidden gems, and you will be treated to lots of interesting facts and anecdotes. The walks are conducted in English or Dutch. Info here and tickets are available at the tourist office.

3. A Canal Cruise
It is said to be the best way to explore the city of Utrecht. There are several companies offering tours of 1-2 hours, with or without catering. These are the main ones offering tours:
- Rederij Schuttevaer
- Varen in Utrecht

4. The Tourist Office
The Utrecht Tourist Office has a wealth of information and good advice if you are looking for an activity.
Location Winkel van Sinkel, Oudegracht 138, Utrecht, NL
We will celebrate in the historic building the "Winkel van Sinkel", located at Oudegracht 158, (see map above) in one of the oldest parts of the city.
We hope you will join us for the reception and dinner. Please indicate your availability on the RSVP form

How to get there

* Public transport: Winkel van Sinkel is about a 15 minute walk from Utrecht Centraal train station. An Intercity train from Amsterdam will take about 30 minutes, from Schiphol Airport about 35 minutes.

* Car: Our local council has a policy of discouraging cars driving into the old city centre, so that's not a good idea. We recommend you park your car on the outskirts of Utrecht, and take a bus or tram into town.

* Air: Schiphol Airport receives flights from all over the world. Eindhoven Airport is mainly used for budget flights. The latter is located about 1 hour south of Utrecht, and is also served by public transport.

Accommodation

Hotels and Airbnbs in Utrecht are busy during the Summer, so make sure to book ahead.
Budget accommodation is available at the Bunk Hotel Utrecht, located
on one of the picturesque city canals, a mere 15 min walk from the party venue.
A midrange hotel with reasonable pricing is the Mitland Hotel, on the eastern side of town, with easy public transport into the town centre.
Utrecht City Apartments offer studios in the city centre, also for short term rental.
Surrounding towns are easily connected to Utrecht as well.

No gifts please

Your appearance will be our gift. We do not want anything, apart from sharing a moment of joy and connection with you. But there are others in the world who are in need of support to survive and thrive.
Feel free to donate something to kiva.org, and help women in developing countries micro finance their business.
