Ashtanga yoga
'Ashtanga yoga is different from Vinyasa yoga as the poses are practiced in a strict sequential order. Beginning students learn the sequence, with adjustments where necessary, led by a teacher. Later on students can move on into an individual practice where they know the sequence and the teacher is a facilitator.
Through the practice of correct breathing (Ujjayi Pranayama), postures (Asanas), and the use of energy locks (Bandhas), we gain control of the senses and a deep awareness of ourselves. By maintaining this discipline with regularity and devotion, one acquires steadiness of body and mind.
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga explores the body in strength as well as flexibility. It was traditionally practised by men. These days it is a popular yoga style with both men and women. Yoga benefits every-body and our Ashtanga yoga classes are suitable for beginners and intermediate practitioners.
